Alyssa is The Country Mama and loves helping other country mums to be more intentional in the way they parent their kids. She uses her own experiences and values to lead by example and has heaps of cool resources available on her site.
Here’s how she did it:
Tell us about your business or blog
I’m a country mama blogger who writes about raising country kids. I share how we are taking our family’s values, threading them through our experiences and adventures with our daughter and learning as we go. I write for parents raising country kids who want to be purposeful about the way they parent and who yearn to teach their children about the world using their families own unique set of values.
When did you start it?
What steps have you taken to get traction?
To date, I have been marketing via social media. I have been networking locally via mum’s business groups and also online through Facebook groups. I have also recently started building my mailing list. A month ago I enrolled in the Business School for Mums course.
What has been the main way of getting your name out there?
What challenges have you faced and how did you overcome them?
Figuring out how to get in front of my ideal audience. I have been combating that through my current promotional strategy online which involves a lot of networking!
What has been your biggest success in your business?
Doing a complete overhaul of my website myself, as someone who doesn’t understand the how’s of website building I am very happy to have put together something I can be proud of.
What is your family life like outside of business?
Busy! I am still on maternity leave but have a very active little girl who loves to be outside. I spend all week with my daughter and my partner is home on the weekends so that’s when we have family time. We like to go on adventures and explore new places. I also love to go horse riding!
What do you love most about being a business mum?
Connecting with other mums – whether that’s mums I’m helping through my site or networking with other biz mums!
What advice would you give someone getting started today?
To just go for it. If you have an idea and the passion then jump right in and grab all the opportunities you can. Know that it will be hard and that there will be plenty of bumps in the road but that it is so worth it!
